We take pride in having our Household Goods Moving authority granted by the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC #233652). Many moving companies operating locally have not been given this license.
What Is the ICC?
The Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) is a quasi-judicial tribunal that regulates public utility services in Illinois. The ICC’s primary goal is to ensure consumers receive reliable and cost-effective utility services while balancing the interests of service providers.
To achieve this, the ICC sets fair rates and charges for services by public utilities (which include private companies serving the public but not municipal utilities that are, in a sense, owned by the public), such as electricity, natural gas, water, sewer, and telecommunications. Additionally, ICC regulates certain transportation activities, such as railroad safety, towing, trucking, and household goods moving.

If a moving company is not authorized, it indicates that it is not adhering to the regulations established by the ICC to safeguard consumers. This implies that the company has not undergone the intensive and lengthy authorization process, which typically takes several months to complete.
